Metrolink wreck discussed. Date: 12/01/05 20:01 Re: Commuter push-pull ops Author: Telus6429 Well I just watched it, and it was very interesting. But what gets me, everything is Centered around 1 Railroad, but there is so many other Railroads that run the Push-Pull, and maybe they should interview the other Railroads.
Telus6429 Ian Windsor, Ontario http://www.trainweb.org/swontariotrain/index.html http://www.trainweb.org/wmrc/index.html http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php?userid=199 Date: 12/01/05 21:45 Re: Commuter push-pull ops Author: prr4828 And maybe state the odds of 1) any given commuter train derailing and 2) a derailed train striking not one but two others ... one of which was moving.
Anyone else notice how the out-the-cabcar-window footage was sped up, while the Surfliner slicing the semi-trailer was slowed down? Seems to me a SUV is a smaller, stiffer target than a 48' foot trailer (which I don't think was fully loaded at the time of impact). The design of most modern vehicles have provision for side impacts ... can this also be said of trailers? * JB * |
