They've been renumbered CPR 4106 and 4107 as you can see in the photo. CFA16-4 No.4105 was the highest numbered CPR cab unit. If you study the CPR early diesel roster, you'll think it doesn't make a lot of sense. That's because, for example, the 4000's were freight cab units. CP just consecutively numbered each succeeding order behind the last, which means that the 4000-4105 series is a jumble of Alcos, EMD's and FM's. Keeping with tradition, the latest "order" of F units is being numbered behind the last. 40 years or so later! Date: 06/04/06 17:21 Re: ex ohio central Fs moving ! Author: RuleG I thought that these locomotives were going to be used for this year's NRHS Convention excursions. Does anyone know what locomotives will be used instead for the diesel-powered trips?
Dave Date: 06/04/06 18:21 Re: ex ohio central Fs moving ! Author: Tominde I do not know what locomotives will be used. In Train Fest 2004, OC used 4 F7As. In addition to the 2 above they also used OC#1000 and #1001. They also had at least 2 F7B units at the shop # 1004 and 817. I do not have any info on the current condition of these locomotives.
Tom Date: 06/04/06 21:55 Re: ex ohio central Fs moving ! Author: CSX7054 I hope these units have a better electrical system on them than the 3 GP40's we got from them... what a nightmare... nothing but problems out of these units since day one. Absolutley nothing but junk that I run everyday trying to keep them running is an everyday thing.

Can't say what was done with the units by OC other than repaint but they should be in reasonable shape, they came from VIA to OC. Pretty sure that's why CP was eager to get them as they know they're already set up with anything specific to Canadian operation. Don't know their history prior to VIA but it would be ironic if VIA got them from CP and they were going full circle. Date: 06/05/06 06:09 Re: ex ohio central Fs moving ! Author: doubleheader Am pretty sure they are ex-Canadian National, which is what most all of the VIA units were at the end of the F-Unit careers in Canada. Its ironic that CPR will be using CN units, eh!!!
I can't remember what the original numbers were, but I think I actually shot one of them in the winter of 87 on VIA! Greg Scholl http://www.gregschollvideo.com Date: 06/05/06 09:06 Re: ex ohio central Fs moving ! Author: wlankenau Yes, they are ex-VIA 6307 and 6313, nee CN 6515 and 6526. CPR 1401 and the B unit are also ex-CN, which were purchased from Nebkota (?) Rail when the executive train/heritage/RCP program was started.

I believe the FPs were refurbished and painted by NRE in Montreal for OHCR.
