CSX B36-7's

I noticed today that CSX has derated many of the remaining GE B36-7's to 2400 horsepower. When was this done? Thanks!

Quite some time ago...before the sd50's were down rated. The B30-7's have also been derated to 2000hp.

With the demise of BNSF B23-7's earlier this year, CSX B30-7 and B36-7 locomotives are the last Dash-7's on a class one railroad, no? Anyones guess to how long they will last?

I guess that the CSXT B36-7s and the B30-7s will last until they individually require major repair work. Then each one will be off to a blast furnace in China. If usable, the frames and trucks may get recycled as "green goats." Gerry

Brazil not buying used GE's any more? That's were alot of CSX's ex-CR B36-7's
ended up. (I think it was Brazil, the railroad is EVFM, and they were converted
to B+B trucks with the pilots extended, and many of them still wearing CSX or CR colors)
