VRE x54 at Conway,PA
Author: operatorjoe

Spotted at Conway,PA Saturday. Came in as third unit of 18A. Looks futuristic. Is this something that has not been in service before? If this has been discussed already, I missed it.

Looks like its been forwarded to VRE to Ivy City, Washington DC, coming out from Boise Locomotive where she was built.

Brand new on it's way to VRE. They have three of them (51-53) on the property now, and are getting more.

Last one, the 53, went east a couple of weeks ago on 18M (via Roanoke). Interesting that this one has been routed differently.

On a related note, CP 224, which left Bensenville in Chicago yesterday at 4p.m.~ , has a duo of two SOO SD60's leading a GO Transit Boise engine east. See my thread in the western board; I'm unsure of the trains whereabouts now.

The engines are being delivered to VRE at its Broad Run yard, just south of Manassas, VA. It is interesting that this one has been routed via Conway instead of across the ex-N&W as the others have been. I hear through the grapevine that VRE's 55 is on it's way, also.
