My guess is a staging move for next week's Chicago-Fort Wayne-Fostoria-Pittsburgh trip.

Any word on if it will be coming through Cleveland, Ohio?

It most likely will - I'd *guess* it'll take the waterlevel from Cleveland to Chicago as a positioning move for next week's OCS run and *probably* get to Cleveland this afternoon sometime. Note that those are both assumptions and not based on any further knowledge - hopefully we'll keep seeing updates here. Obviously the train could get delayed or parked somewhere or theoretically go a different route but through Cleveland and all the way to Chicago (or at least Elkhart) today seem like the most likely scenario to me. We'll see what happens...

Any specific business related reason for this route? And once into Bellevue, what route is likely, former NKP to the Chicago line at Vermilion? Clogggsville? or possibly the Sandusky line up to the Chicago line then east?

It's been reported for a while that NS is doing a tour of the CF&E between Chicago and Fort Wayne.

As for the second half, I'm not sure, but don't forget the Bellevue-Bucyrus-Pittsburgh possibility, too.

I've received an e-mail stating that the outbound crew at Conway (Pittsburgh) is ordered for 12:15 p.m., so it's still too early to get your knickers into a knot about its time through Cleveland. Not that the weather in northern Ohio is particularly encouraging, anyway.

Norfolk Southern has trackage rights across the CF&E, and I believe NS dispatches the CF&E either under contract with RailAmerica and/or left over from their brief ownership(?) of the line.

Actually, I believe the dispatching is a legacy of Conrail's control from the dispatch office in Green Tree, near Pittsburgh. CSX never bothered to relocate the dispatchers to one of its centers while it was running the line, and RailAmerica appears happy to contract out that service.

I'm not totally sure that the office-car train will run the CF&E on this trip, but that was the way it was listed in a memo that I got a copy of. It could have changed since then.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of this 955?

Sunny now in Toledo, but anvil clouds starting to build to the west, and some thundershowers in southeast Michigan on the radar. Should be a bouncy afternoon in these parts. The photo ops will either be really poor, or spectacular.

Edited to add: That assumes the train gets here in a timely manner. I just got an update, third-hand, that as of 2:00 PM (14:00) it had not yet departed West Conway, Pa.
