1st NS Heritage Unit? Need Confirmation...
Author: Funnelcam

Sent by a friend, not sure of the origin nor the authenticity. Does anyone have any solid info that this is indeed the actual heritage unit? (Yes it's obscured, however I don't think it's photoshopped...)

**Edit** Photo is from Dustin Faust as seen on RRpictureArchives via Facebook.

That would be the first one painted, as it was painted yesterday.

This is not photoshopped, it's the actual heritage unit that was released at Altoona today. The Southern unit should be done next week.

Can't wait to see photos of these heritage units in action.
Any special numbering scheme for the heritage units?

It's Altoona.. The mainline is out front.. The paint shop is behind the heritage unit.. Looks like its been outside to let it dry..

When was the picture originally taken? Based on where it is sitting, it looks like it is ready for pickup.....JBS outshops usually head West on the Altoona-Conway 11A symbol....I wonder if it may have already gone out....Dave W.

Super kool! Way to go, NS! My son suggested to CSX sometime ago that they do some heritage paint schemes. No answer back from them. Think of the paint schemes they could do--wow!

So glad they went this route instead of like UP.

So classy and not gaudy like the UP jobs. Looks just like the C40-8W's running all around when I was 15.

That is the Conrail heritage unit, and the rustbucket at the lower left is the remains of NS 5531. Now to chase this one with Dad.

Word has it NS has added Penn Central back to the lineup, and it will become the 19th heritage unit. Still hearing rumors there may be more.

Hopefully NS will go the route of CSX and use their AC units on all trains... Otherwise I may never see one in Northern Indiana... The Chicago Line rarely sees them
