NS still uses quite a few cabs in the coal fields on the mine runs, and still uses them in some cities on locals. Better question is what is the car in front of the cab?

After a little looking around it looks like a C&D gondola that NS has , (Construction&DEmolition) Looks to be filled with something maybe concrete blocks broken up , it doesn't look like ballast. or scrap but the pic is a copy of the video so its a tad fuzzy. The C&D 's are former hooper cars rebuilt by UP shops for refuse and such. Apparently there is a big increase in the garbage we need to ship. Heres a pic of the model

The car in front of the cab is a scrap car and they can be seen in regular service at the local scrap yard carrying various scrap metals and other items from Cycle systems. That train is either the "Cab Run" or the "North Delivery" local. both of which almost always have a cab. As info, there are a bunch of cabs still in use around here on various local moves since so many require lengthy reverse moves.

Thanks , it just looks right with a cab at the end. I enjoy watching the Roanoke Cam and its the first caboose I have seen.

Keep watching, some days up to 3 different ones are on parade.
