RU CT: Auburn Hills to Tampa 11/12-14/2012
Author: blackcatd9

RBBB Red Unit: Auburn Hills, MI to Tampa, FL 11/12-14/2012
RED CONSIST: 59 Cars = 4 Stocks, 34 Coaches, 2 COFC, 19 Flats. (Total 252 axles less power)

1 - REMINDER: Rail Transportation Routings (RTR’s) and Times are made in advance and Subject to Change (STC) without notice as the host railroads require. Routings and Times are unpredictable, a lot can change during departure, although the CT’s are to run ahead of schedule if the host RR’s can accommodate. Crew Changes, Service Stops and Consist Rearrangement can occur anywhere or anytime along the route at the discretion of the operating/transportation officials.

2 - From “The Network”, “Tower 48” and “The Traveling Archives”:
TO.COM REFERENCE: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,2910903 = Auburn Hills Reference

3 - LOADOUT: Wagons and Equipment being transported via private carrier for loadout at Eames Railroad Yard (Orion).
From Our Data Sources: Coaches should be in Pontiac CN/GT Yard Facility (C. E. Chavez Ave./Oakland Ave.). Canadian National currently runs this Yard, it was once owned by Grand Trunk.

4 – TO.COM REFERENCE: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,2914898

5 - “Network Providers Projected Routing”: Upon completion of loadout (Orion), CN will move Flats to Pontiac Yard Facility for consist assembly. Data sources indicates that the consist will move to Milwaukee Jct. As of this Post Time, Norfolk Southern (NS) will be the host railroad for movement of RUCT to Jacksonville, FL. Possible NS RUCTID “047/048”.
As it is now seen NS, upon receipt of CT from CN, will depart terminal Detroit, Monday 12 Nov 12, no definite time set schedule. Departure depends on complete consist makeup, inspections, air tests and call time for availability of train crews.
We are looking at the following routing out of Detroit area (as in 2011) via NS, but as always, “Subject to Change” without notice to accommodate operating and/or transportation officials.
Carrier NS to Jacksonville, CSX Jacksonville to Tampa, as in past practices with movement of the CT’s, power may stay the same to destination terminal. The “projected routing” appears to be the same as in 2011 for the Tampa run.
MI: Pontiac, Detroit Area, Adrian.
OH: Montpeller
IN: Butler, New Haven, Ft. Wayne, Richmond.
OH: Campbellstown, Cincinnati.
KY: Via NS, Lexington, Danville, Stearns.
TN: Harriman, Chattanooga.
GA: Atlanta, Macon, Cordele, Adel, Valdosta, St. George.
FL: NS handoff to CSXT (P900 Series-14) at Jacksonville (Simpson Yard) for run to Tampa (Uceta Yard), with a scheduled arrival for Wednesday night or early Thursday morning if all goes according to plan. “Current data” out of CSXT – “A” Line to Tampa (STC).

“The 2011 Traveling Archives”: CT traveled the CSX S-Line onto the Vitis subdivision and crossed over onto the A-Line at Lakeland, FL and headed into Tampa on the A-line.

6 - IN CLOSING: We have compiled and posted this data and information for the enjoyment of fellow Railfans and CT followers in their Quest for Photo and Video opportunities of this part of Americana.

7 - Keep in mind, Routings and Times are unpredictable, a lot can change. We are looking forward to an enjoyable “Home Run” for the Red Unit and all of its followers, on the way to Tampa, FL. Plenty of Photo/Video opportunities for this approximate 1,400 Mile “jump”. Appreciate any updates or corrections for our above data sources.
Enjoy. All for now. bcd9 ∑:=)

I'm going to try and catch him somewhere in Central Florida, then run with them home to Tampa. I look forward to this almost as much as Christmas! ;)

From “Tower 48”: 10:11 AM EST - 11/12/12 - Flats were scheduled to depart Orion Yard (Giddings Road Crossing) around 06:00 AM EST and proceed to Pontiac.
That route would have been: W Silver Bell Road, along Joslyn Road, west along Walton Blvd down to Oakland Ave.
All for now. bcd9 ∑:=)

If they're still messing around in Pontiac assembling the train now, there's no way it gets south of Fort Wayne in daylight, if it even gets that far.

Is the NS routing an assumption? I had heard / thought it was going through Toledo on CSX this afternoon?

Swapping crews at Ft. Wayne 5:45pm. I'm almost certain there will be some kind of power change as Central Division probably wants 2 engines on there.

On the move toward Cincinnati. They must plan to add power in Cincy as the CN is still leading solo.

So the CN unit is heading with the train the entire way so far as anyone knows? Even if power is added on in. Cincy?

047 approaching Millville on the Newcastle District at 910 PM. No guarantee about keeping the CN unit though I expect NS will just add a locomotive ahead of it at Gest St.
