Eastern Railroad Discussion > Rail fanning Ohio Part1Date: 11/17/12 15:02 Rail fanning Ohio Part1 Author: SteveTuff Back in October myself and three other budies of mine took a four day trip to Ohio to check out some new rail fan spots and visit some places we had already been. One of the guys that was on the trip with use, this was his first hardcore rail fan trip as we call it. Our hardcore rail fan trips consist of driving between 5 & 10 hours just to get our first destination for some good old rail fanning. Like I said our trip this year consisted Ohio as a whole, & we were trying to hit as many spots as we could in four days. We had planned to hit three main areas, these areas were we would get hotel rooms for the night. These three places were Fostoria, Marion, & Berea. So after picking the three main places we wanted to go we had to decide which way from home we were going to go. Cross the board at Windsor/ Detroit or Fort Erie/ Buffalo. The decision was to go through Windsor/ Detroit, the reason for this was we could hit a train show on the Saturday while rail fanning Berea. So On October 4th we packed one over our buddies truck with all our stuff, and headed for the boarder. The first night stop was going to be in Berea, we had the hotels pre-booked so it did not matter what time we got there at so, we crossed the boarder and head for North Baltimore and CSX is new Intermodal facility. We got there and caught some nice power going in and out of the terminal. We found out from being there once before it was better to stand at the west end of the yard for shooting pictures. After being there for alittle while we headed for Galeitia. We were able to catch some good trains there. Then head for home base at Fostoria, where we spent the rest of the day taking pictures. So here's what we caught on the first day.
