Old units, older tower (CSX X791)
Author: erie833

We'll be seeing a lot of photos of this train tonight :)
I did the chase from just west of Attica Junction to Akron with this interesting move. The neatest part was the trailing GP-30 was facing west allowing for some great "going away" photos. Here are a few of my favorites from today....in no particular order.

Both the tower and the units could be living on borrowed time, although my money is on the GP-30 outlasting Nova tower.

Passing through Akron.

Entering Willard for a crew change.

And for the number crunchers :
2445, 2530, 2578, 2563, 2580, 2519, 2446, 2535, 2465, 2470, 2442

Waiting at Greenwich.

Departing Greenwich.

They sure built Nova tower to last! There's less and less of it there every time I see it.

Here is a deeper tele view showing the tower a little better. I can't believe it's still standing.....I try not to sneeze when I'm near it :)

A couple old head railroaders I was talking to said that the only thing holding Nova Tower up is the 2 story components for the Armstrong Lever Mechanism.

"RN" tower in Ravenna had that same "lean" before they tore it down, I'll see if I can find some pics of it.

Great job with those shots Roger. I shot it just east of Hoytville and again at Godsend thanks to a stop there but you really blasted that sucker!

Thanks MDH. It was a "spirited" chase to say the least....

Anybody not familiar with this Tower's location, Google "Nova, Ohio" there are a few pictures of the Tower in better days.

Ex-Santa Fe units heading for Larry's Truck and Electric for a new life.
Hence the LTEX stencil.
