Ever see a NS unit with "Grey" hinges?

Have you ever seen a NS unit that appears to have every door hinge painted "Grey"? There are some out there, and it is not grey paint, it is some kind of spray on lubricant. Surely there has to be a better way. Nothing like seeing a fresh unit with every hinge Grey. Here is GP40-2 3036 at West tarentum, Pa this morning.

I would have taken a rag and wiped off the excess.
