Fabulous New Light for The Station Inn
Author: bert14

Spending a few days with Tom and noticed the trackside street light (on the tele pole) near the tunnel had burned out, thus, the trains were almost invisible at night.
Discussed with Tom that we GOT to have some light, SO, with handyman John's help, we dismantled the 2500 watt metal halide light that was placed on the same tele pole last year by Railfan ?? from Jersey --and was way too close & too bright to the tracks, and experimented last night with the light placed in the window of the PR&R room. The PR&R room is the upper left side of course, where the live Railcam is mounted, away from the trees.
WOW! Did I say WOW? WOW!!!!!
It was just right--not too bright and very pleasant to the eye--for over a hundred yards west to east across from The Inn. The trackside parking lot was good too.
Some added "Barn Doors" will narrow the upper and lower focus of the beam, if needed.
Tom will install the light under the eave and above the live railcam in early Spring, ideally with a sensor to turn it on at dusk, then a timer to turn it off at
11PP or Midnight.
Railfanning at night from the front porch---can't wait til Spring!!
DougO.
PS: Dave, that first picture of the stalled train on the Reading Bridge--WOW!!!

A couple of years ago there was a light on the pole above the tunnel that shined on the tracks. Tom said his neighbors across the tracks complained and he had to take it down. wonder if the neighbors will be able to live with this one.
