End of Speed Restriction for CSX in Hamler OH
Author: MSchwiebert

With the installation of the new OWLS diamonds at the I&O crossing, the need for the 40MPH speed restriction across the crossing has ended. As a result the speed limit through town will be raised from 40 to 50 on 12/15/12 and from 50 to 60 on 12/22/12.

Given what passes for "traffic" on the I&O these days, it shouldn't be an issue for them.

Thirty plus years a go. In the orange era The ten mph would have never happened.

Very nice picture. Thats how the orange era looked at Hamler. I remember it very well.

How much I&O is going thru Hamler these days?

Local between Lima & Delta, and the occasional Metamora grain train. The Grain trains have recently changed to CSX interchange @ Lima instead of Hamler, and CSX power stays with the train while it's loaded.

Don't worry trains will still be slowing down in Henry County, Ohio. Once the freeze/thaw begins Deshler should drop to about 10 MPH. Then, when it really gets cold, the broken rail between the two points should help us out... Speaking from a foamers point of view. Sorry Farmer! I wonder if Foreman Rutter turns on the scanner or ATCS and just laughs his A$$ off now that he's retired?

Had to laugh other day. Broken rail about twenty five feet off the new rail that was laid between East Hamler and West Deshler on track two. Best part it was early afternoon when it broke with a rail temp of 62 degrees. Diamonds at Deshler will be 25 mph very soon if they are not raised before ground freezes.
