That's going to be a problem. Looks like damage to a moveable bridge.

According to the always accurate (tongue planted firmly in cheek) Huffington Post the derailment was on Conrail...

It was, in fact, on Conrail - CR Shared Assets.

Same bridge was involved in a similar derailment in 2009 when 50 coal cars went into the river. Look for a lot of the blame game to start.

your info needs some revising ... the derailed car count on the 506 coal train in 2009 was way less than 50

excerpt taken from an article on the 2009 derailment:

"The Conrail bridge over the Mantua Creek buckled early Sunday as the end of a train largely carrying cars loaded with coal passed over it, derailing up to 16 cars and rendering useless a key transportation artery to Delaware River industries in Gloucester and Salem counties."

in this recent derailment news video has shown the collapse of the same pier

The article I read said that calls to Conrail went un-answered....

Who would be the clean-up & repair crew be for this, and where would they be coming from?

that's right they couldn't get in contact with Conrail so they're calling Penn Central/PRSL :-)

could be Hulcher and/or RJ Corman ... not sure if they're on scene yet

Thanks - I see now that local news is saying the clean-up company is from Texas, so, I'm guessing Hulcher.

There's also mention of a float crane coming down from New York harbor.

If you want to have a few pathetic chuckles, go to MSNBC and read some of the comments posted by readers....things like, "the conductor was texting, because I've read that's happened before..." and other brainy opinions.

they're going to need a HAZ-MAT cleanup contractor also ... Clean Harbors is one H-M contractor they use

Yeah, so? This is in fact a Conrail line and Conrail does still exist in Detroit and New Jersey.

Remember that today's 10-second sound-bite media moguls go for speed, not accuracy! S/he who reports firstest gets the most attention -- corrections might be done later (if done at all) at 11 PM after everyone is asleep!

All I said is what the article said. Those words did not come from my mouth.
It was meant with a bit of humor. Something I see you do not have.
Chill Out.

There have been people impugning the quality of this incident's media coverage because reports have identified the carrier as Conrail -- which is, in fact, true.

Furthermore, humor is not always easy to detect on the Internet, especially if it can be misconstrued as sarcasm.

Good to know that Conrail is still in business. Unpatched locomotives?

CSX and NS supply their own locos for Conrail operations
