Eastern Railroad Discussion > 39G - Bad loco - Great CrewDate: 03/30/13 16:40 39G - Bad loco - Great Crew Author: VFPNSFAN Last Wednesday March 27, 2013 my kids and I caught 39G as it pulled up to Port Kennedy in Valley Forge Park to wait for his conductor. Had this BNSF SD70MAC dead in tow for repairs. For some reason they decided they were going to get the engineer's autograph. As I was taking photos(never thinking the engineer would come down)I look down the platform and there he is signing an autograph for my kids. As the Jitney from Abram's Yard arrived they went right over to the conductor and asked for his autograph as well. The two gentleman couldn't have been more gracious about it. Made their day and mine as well. They then later sold me the autographs for $2.

Of course that was a few years ago. After all, I owed it go them after growing up with full access to caboose and engine rides, depots, towers, and practically everywhere else you can go on a railroad! They may have made your kids the next generation of railroaders.

Like the other poster said, I grew up with plenty of access to engines, depots, towers (well, one--Howell in Atlanta) and cabs. Wonderful to see these railroaders interacting with your kids.
