Local traffic advisory this a.m. is "U S 301 traffic will be reduced to one (1) lane between Warrior rd. and Pickett rd. for the next THREE MONTHS due to widening of US 301," (NS RR bridge overpass) This will affect Folkston Winter Watch , People coming from the South to Folkston can use CR 121.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why they felt that the snowbird rush was a good time to close this much less hectic alternative to I-95?

On my several snowbird trips in the area, there is always an abundance of way out of state plates...

Since, US301 shaves off quite a bit of miles from getting to I-10. That way you wont have to worry about the Jax I-295 Loop, in which its always congested. So, US 301 is the shortest way to get to Ocala, I-10 and I-75, avoiding I-95 south to I-4. I live in FT Myers and take 301 when I get off I-75 on the Ocala ramp, then hop on 301 and straightlined to I-95 at Ferdiana Beach ramp when I want to go north to my home state in CT. Its about 5 hours from FT Myers to State Line FL/GA better and quicket than I-4 east and merge to 95 north in Daytona Beach which was 6 and a half hours more.. (including the Jax congestion)

just talked to c of c in folkston and 12-7 is the date. they are again going to provide lighting for the night shift. also promised to get the web site up to date......

Because the weather in Fl is good 12 months a year, the FDOT could care less. This is a good time for road work with the temps. much lower this time of the year.

Winterwatch is Pearl Harbor Day! Thanks Danny Harmon for holding both notable events on the same day. Some that attend may actually know what Pearl Harbor day means.........

As of 6:45 pm tonight, this lane restriction only involved the east and west approach ramps and the CSX A-Line overpass at the west edge of Callahan.

Ha! Doubt it.

I had to tell a couple of young news producers the significance of D-Day this past June.
