An ONR moment(how do you take your geeps?)
Author: CRmac80

I've always liked the GP-7/9/18's with a high short hood,no dynamics, and torpedo tubes on top-I'll use Ontario Northland 1602 as exhibit "A".Shown here leading big brother SD-40-2 1736 at Englehart,Ont July 11th,1980.So tell me-how do you like yours-the same, chopped, with dynamo,or even with AAR switcher trucks(saw them on the L&N,no idea of heritage...)?And of course with the summer photography season almost here, where might we find the survivors of the once huge early geep fleets?Enjoy!RAD

Did that one come from the Northern Pacific?

Nice looking engine and photo.

Hmmm-good question Dan.I thought they were bought new by the ONR,but I'm not really sure.Numbers ran 1600 to 1605 with the 1600 getting a WM style chop nose, but keeping the high bell and torprdo tubes.

Those high hoods look great-I like the takeoff on the CNJ Coast Guard scheme. Here is exhibit "B" for those that might like the short nose cut down.Sept 1979,Noth Bay,Ontario. And hey-is that an Alco Century lurking behind that 'Jersy Geep?Roger

I'll take TT's (RF&P 101)
Author: vacentral

This Geep was built from a combination of old RF&P GP 7's. Thus the RF&P 101 was built. It now belongs to the Old dominion NHRS and resides in Dillwyn, VA for excursions.

In the shot above, you can tell the Mid-Atlantic unit has been chop nosed but not repainted. I've seen pictures of these units still with the high nose and they looked good back then.
