Bee Line service and coal dust...at the "Sag"
Author: Forever-Railfan-45

Got word that the NS 780 with the Reading leading went OD at 1027...and did not leave until 1510. Went to Alliance at about 1400 with the "hope" that this train may be catchable in daylight,if it left at a respectable time, as next week brings the dreaded daylight savings time; "turn back the clock one hour..." Got lucky as I had a text that she may hit Alliance by 1730 so I repositioned myself at PC 77.2. This is referred to the "Garfied Sag..." First up is the 19A running west on track one, second up is the 65R, number three is of the NS 780...and yes sun cooperated.

Picture number four is of the 780 about to cross Ellet Road. The train made it from Leetonia to here (fifteen miles) in about nineteen minutes. Was expecting to see it in about thirty five minutes not nineteen. Fastest I have ever seen a loaded coal train come up this hill. And about twenty minutes later the sun was gone as she slowed for a twenty five mile per hour slow order at "Fairhope" which is the eastern end of Canton Yard. After Saturday night we will see daylight diminish at the rate of nine minutes a day and then the sun will set at 1653 for nine days straight in December then we will gain daylight. Have a good Thursday all...

Really like #3. The coal dust trailing behind the train is a nice effect.

Nice catch Carl.

I really need to get out and get some shots before the weather really turns. I haven't looked at the schedule but if memory is correct, Ringling should be on the Youngstown Line next Monday.
