the Erie-Lackawanna was a modern railroad.
At least in 1972 it was. Here's one I found in my stash of newly scanned negatives. I have no clue where I took it and guess it was in 1972 sometime
This is way cool! Look at the boys riding in style!

My guess for location would be the Meadowlands in New Jersey, now New Jersey Transit's Bergen County Line. Track reduces to single from double to cross the Hackensack River.

Nice 4-door, all it needs now are some blue/reds and a 85012 on the door (don't forget the black and white paint)
