Eastern Railroad Discussion > PN 7210 Lansdale, PADate: 08/17/16 09:22 PN 7210 Lansdale, PA Author: VFPNSFAN Near Lansdale, PA today so why not eat lunch at the Lansdale SEPTA station and see what's around. Google search of this unit indicates EMD GP9RM, the stencil on the side of the unit says GY-418a, does that have to do with a rebuild? Tha cab looks very much like an ALCO to me. I would assume not but I'm curious. Any info appreciated.

Date: 08/17/16 10:24 Re: PN 7210 Lansdale, PA Author: DJ-12 This is a GP9 with the original cab. (EMD units had a rounded cap on the GP-7 through GP-20 models).
The initials on the cab indicate how the CN classes the engines. I THINK it means (corrections welcome): G = GMD product Y = Yard Engine 4 = 4 axles 18 = 1800 HP Edited 1 time(s). The unit is ex-CN, all CN units except recent repaints carry a similar designation under their number.
The GP9RMs are GP9s that were rebuilt by CN at their Pointe Sainte Charles shops, the low short hood and new cab front were part of that rebuild. Andrew C Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/17/16 13:57 by andrewcastle. Date: 08/17/16 15:37 Re: PN 7210 Lansdale, PA Author: VFPNSFAN Thanks guys👍

Is this engine in a derailment or crossing incident? Date: 08/17/16 17:54 Re: PN 7210 Lansdale, PA Author: VFPNSFAN Not sure if it was in an accident, it's hard to tell from the lighting, but the engineer's window is covered with a piece of plywood.
