MT Date: 08/03/03 21:07 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: dputz CSX doesn\'t have any CW44-8\'s(as CSX would call them, if they had them)

MT Date: 08/03/03 21:34 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: CSXSD70AC It is my understanding all of the CSX units numbered 9000-9052 are C448W\'s. The units have a Dash 9 Carbody, with older Hi ad trucks and have Dash 8 electricals, Not dash 9. Therefore the designation C448W. Any one else have any further on this?
JRF Date: 08/03/03 21:34 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: BothanSpy they started life as CW44-8\'s but have all since been upgraded to match 9003-9053 which are internally C44-9W... despite the fact they sport Dash 8 bodies/chassis

Date: 08/03/03 22:27 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: redneckrailfan CSX #9000-9002 are still classed as CW44-8. I shot the #9001 7/20/03 and the designation on the cab is still CW44-8 as it has been since delivery. CSX #9003-9052 are the CW44-9 classed units.

Sunday, taking pics of WB tower :) Date: 08/04/03 03:35 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: dputz Nope, it was yesterday around 4PM.
Date: 08/04/03 03:55 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: Larry576 There have been countless arguments about what these units are. 9000-9002 were built in 1993 and were originally ordered as C40-8W\'s 7918-7920. GE outshopped them as 4380hp units instead and CSX numbered them as you see them. The only physical difference was thicker radiator cores. They have EFI and a few other software differences but thats about it. The remainder were built in 1994 and lack rear numberboards but otherwise look exactly like the first 3. Whether they are Dash 8\'s or Dash 9\'s continues to be debated. They were built after the first "standard" Dash 9\'s were already built. They ALL have Dash 8 carbodies (and CR/LMS got identical looking C40-8W\'s later in the year - 1994 was the final year of Dash 8 production). They appear to be some sort of hybrid model - Dash 9 features in a Dash 8 body. Withers in his 2000 locomotive spotters guide lists all 53 as C44-8W\'s. CSX (and reportedly GE too) list them as C44-9W\'s. I personally stick with C44-8W. They are just TOO different from standard C44-9W\'s. The interior cab layout is identical to Dash 8\'s as well...Call\'em what you want.
Larry Date: 08/04/03 04:20 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: dputz How about a C44-8/9W?
Date: 08/04/03 07:25 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: st.croix334 I like it! or C44-8.5W
Who remembers when auto makers built cars with 1/2 year designations? dputz wrote: > How about a C44-8/9W? > > [%sig%] Date: 08/04/03 21:58 Re: CSXT 9000 Author: LEF28 9000-9002 are test units for the Dash 9 4380 hp motor with Dash 8 car body and electrics. :
