Lancaster and Chester Railroad Day 3
Author: trainman7774

Hello All,

Back in December I took a trip down south. Here's some photos from the third day of visiting of the Lancaster and Chester Railroad.

These photos were taken on Tuesday December 13, 2016.

Photos one, two and three  show the Lancaster and Chester Railroad switching cars in  Chester South Carolina.

The MP15DC is labeled for the Norfolk and Portsmouth Belt Line. I am not sure if the L&C bought it or is leasing it.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Have really enjoyed your photos the past couple days.  Looks like you made the best of the weather.  I always thought NPBL were reporting marks for Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line.  I did a quick search of AAR and now they just show NPB.  Anyhow, it's either a leased unit or not yet repainted - photos 1 & 2.

Thank you for the kind comments about my pictures.

You are correct about the MP15DC being ex Norfolk and Portsmouth Belt Line.

I must have misunderstood the information I heard.

That is former NS/SOU MP15DC 2369, which had been lettered for and used by the Norfolk Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad (NPBL).  The NPBL is partially owned by Norfolk Southern.

The 2369 was one of 76 units sold by NS in an auction at Roanoke, VA, in August of last year.  It was sold to the Knoxville & Holston River RR, but delivered to the Lancaster & Chester RR.

The 2369 was one of several MP15 variants bought by Gulf & Ohio and divided between the L&C, Laurinburg & Southern and Knoxville & Holston River. In the past few week, they replaced the NPBL with LC and put a Springmaid logo on the end of the hood. When I get my car replaced, getting a shot of it is high on my list

Really miss the immaculate SW-900's the L&C used previously...any idea where they went or are being held on the property for standby?

90 is on the new G&O property in Kinston, NC.
91 is at Circle S on the L&C
92 is stored OOS on the L&C

All of the SW1200s and SW1500s were sold off
