A Day Along the Lake Shore (Western NY / PA)
Author: train1275

Yesterday the weather was unsettled and at times downright nasty so it seemed a good day to get out and take a few photos.

These scenes are along the former Conrail (NYC) and N&W (Nickel Plate) lines in far Western New York State and the panhandle of Pennsylvania.

1. It wasn't bad when the sun did break out as seen by NS 9578 leading an eastbound at Westfield, NY

2. Another eastbound rolls over the old NKP Chautauqua Creek trestle at Westfield, NY

3. Further west at the Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, PA along the route of the old Lake Shore & Michigan Southern, CSX 208 leads a short westbound

4. At the end of the afternoon CSX 843 heads empty auto racks west under blue skies and blooming flowers in a prelude to Easter Sunday and the coming Spring.

5. A far cry from the early afternoon rain, haze, clouds and otherwise muddy weather when CSX 5247 lead stacks east past the railfan park at Westfield.
