Eastern Railroad Discussion > Damn the NIMBY's, Full Speed Ahead!Date: 04/20/17 16:52 Damn the NIMBY's, Full Speed Ahead! Author: ut-1 (With apologies to Admiral David Farragut....)
Despite some local opposition, Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern continues to store empty propane tank cars on the northernmost 10 miles of its 45-mile Utica-Boonville-Port Leyden, NY branch line. Led by No. 2042, a MLW M420W still in ex-owner BCOL's paint scheme, 38 tankers were taken north of Boonville for storage on April 19th. Here are a few photos showing the move: 1. Passing over one-lane tunnel on Old Poland Road, Barneveld. 2. Remsen. 3. Passing by a waterfall, Remsen. Date: 04/20/17 16:56 Re: Damn the NIMBY's, Full Speed Ahead! Author: ut-1 4. Another view, Cincinnati Creek waterfalls, Remsen.
5. Farther along the Cincinnati Creek. 6. Farther north, approaching Dean Rd, Boonville. Date: 04/20/17 17:28 Re: Damn the NIMBY's, Full Speed Ahead! Author: SouthBuffalo1 The Buffalo and Pittsburgh made the local news here in the Buffalo area this week. Storing a cut of empty oil cars on their line through Lackawanna NY. I happened to notice them a few weeks ago and knew it was just a matter of time before the neighbors complained. I grew up in this neighborhood and it was my first experience of watching trains on the B&O in the 60's and 70's.
