Washouts in SW Ohio
Author: zars

We received this message from the NS:

Multiple washouts have resulted in the suspension of train service between Somerville, OH and Hamilton, OH (roughly 35 miles north of Cincinnati, OH). As a result of high waters, a bridge on this route has been compromised. An outside specialist has been contracted to assess the damage and advise on possible resolutions. The assessment will take place later today and a subsequent update will follow. While there is no current estimate on when the route will return to service, customers should expect service and availability delays of at least 24 hours throughout the weekend as traffic is diverted around the affected area.

Somerville is on the former PRR/PC line between Hamilton, OH and Richmond, IN.

Well, they apparently are not rerouting trains up the Dayton District. It has been very quiet since I got home.

Well, yesterday they rerouted 240, 241, I15, and 295 on the DD. The I15 and 295 having to come into Watkins yard, run around their train and then head west. There is a 215 coming down to Columbus as I type and will do the same.

If anyone could get a pic of temporary fix it would be appreciated.
