RBBX PUCT final miles to its grave - Brandon, FL 5/26/17

After a lengthy delay in Baldwin, FL due to mechanical problems, it finally reached Central Florida today - 1850 by Plant City (where I missed 1/4 of it) and Brandon at 1910 where I took this video at the VFW on Parsons Ave on the CSX Yeoman Sub "S Line".

I believe all these cars will be cut up for scrap, correct me if I am wrong. The train is going straight to Palmetto from what I understand from the conversation between the crew, Trainmaster and Dispatcher. Thank you to all who helped with tracking the train, especially Ed Stewart (calsubd), Andrew (florida581) and Uncle Joe (retcsxcfm). There was a huge crown of train fans at the Plant City viewing platform, and also there was a Roach Coach festival going on as well, as a matter a fact I was busy smelling the food and ordering dinner when I heard the horn and missed 1/4 of the train by the time I got trackside.

There certainly are fewer cars on it than when it left New Jersey. Whether the cars that weren't set out en route will all be cut up, I don't know.

Great video, thanks for posting. What leads you to believe they will be cut up for scrap? It's been widely reported that the cars are in very good condition and all were sold at auction.

I heard from lots of sources, that those cars set out along the way were sold at the auction, and whatever was left over on this train were to be cut up for scrap. But that is good news, none will be scrapped.

"...and whatever was left over on this train were to be cut up for scrap. But that is good news, none will be scrapped."

I am a little confused. The first portion of the above contradicts that last portion. Will they be scrapped, or saved?
Thanks, Norm

On my original post I had mentioned all the cars on the train I captured will be cut up for scrap from what people had told me. RFandPFan replied that the cars were in good condition and sold at auction so I don't really know the fate of these cars.

I believe either Rhett aka 'RBX551985', 'FrostyOrca' or 'BlackCatD9', all of whom were either extremely closely tied to the circus train or actually work for RBB had reported that RBB would not actually announce who purchased any or all of the cars at auction. I do believe that one of them also posted that they too were under the understanding that all of the cars had been purchased.

Just because someone else has bought a particular car(s) from the circus doesn't guarantee its preservation. The buyer may be looking to scavenge for trucks or other parts.

Reports say six cars were set out at Rocky Mount. No buyer has been announced although some speculate it's NCDOT.

A LOT of cars were left up in Oak Island Yard, Newark, NJ for distribution across the Northeastern region of the nation (a bunch of new owners). NINE cars were left in Rocky Mount, NC (they might be going to NC DOT, but that's not officially confirmed). All but 5 coaches were left in Baldwin Yard, Florida for new owners across the southern region of the nation. The 5 coaches left on the final leg of the Home Run to Palmetto/Ellenton (south of Tampa) are ALSO going to new owners ... show folk were told that EVERY passenger car was indeed sold and that NO passenger cars from either RBBB train are to be scrapped: Feld Ent. people managed to see every car, saving them from scrapping. (That being said, it is possible -- as suggested above -- that some new car-owners may want on the trucks or other parts; time will tell.)

The flats are another matter. Most of those, I'm told, were also sold -- however I do not know the disposition of the fleet, including if some flatcars were operating on FRA and/or AAR waivers (Ringling got the first ever angle-side ACF-built 89-ft. piggyback flats -- the first 10 prototypes -- and those may be working on borrowed time). Of those 10 flats, the show listed 5 of those as "ACF 1 through 5" and the other 5 had no official numbers....

The loaded flats from the Red Unit (2 weeks ago) and the Blue Unit (the video, above) were to be unloaded and the material in the wagons, the wagons themselves AND all vehicles and equipment on both trains' flatcar consists were to be INVENTORIED upon arrival; thus all flats went to the show's Ellenton, Fla. H.Q.

I am guessing that a lot of the equipment and such within the wagons will find reuse for other shows, but what about the wagons themselves?

Please, if any of that equipment or vehicles is going to go up for eventual sale or auction, please let us know. There is some I would be interested in.

I think your best bet would be to contact the Feld Company directly.

The dispersal of the wagons happened quickly and quietly. Some were torched in the Tampa fairgrounds after being unloaded and some were sold. A few of those wagons are allowed to keep the lettering and logos intact per individual agreements with Feld.
