Herding a Chessie Cat (Night at the Museum)
Author: SDP40F600

The Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, Pennsylvania held its annual night at the museum on Saturday and the star attraction was the latest addition to the collection. Chesapeake & Ohio No. 8272 wearing a Chessie System livery was posed under the lights. The B30-7 was built at the nearby Erie locomotive assembly plant in Lawrence Park and repainted into the Chessie colors by the CSX Huntington, West Virginia, shops. It arrived on the museum property late last week.

The museum also transformed New York Central No. 2800 into a Pittsburgh & Lake Erie unit for the evening. It is shown in Photo 3 posing with C&O 8272.

Photos 4-6: Some brought in a P&LE truck that was posed next to "P&LE No. 2899."

Looks like a great event. Is the 2800 a U25 or an early U28?

"P&LE 2800" is actually New York Central 2500, a U25B. P&LE had early U28B's in the late U25B carbody (sloped nose and split windshield).
