NS Symbol Help: 566, 65W, 62G, 61Z, 66Z
Author: zchcsse

I was wondering if anyone had origin/destination info for NS unit train symbols:

566: PRB coal train off the UP in Chicago, but where does it end up? Saw it in Bellevue, OH.
65W: Used to be empty crude oil from Westville, but this was an empty ethanol train.
62G: Stone train
61Z: Empty slab train (possibly 61C, sometimes hard to decipher over the radio)
66Z: Loaded oil train

Thanks for any help!

66Z terminates at the Phillips refinery at or around Linden, NJ. Not sure if it's origin other that in the Dakota's somewhere(I think).

Sadly, it looks like some or the symbols you mentioned aren't on here, but it might be helpful as future reference.

NS 61C is an empty slab train from Alabama to Gary, IN. The loaded train in the other direction is 60C.

NS 566 goes to the Cleveland Electric Illuminating power plant in Avon Lake, Ohio.

I believe NS 66Z goes to Reybold, Delaware.

NS 65W would be an empty ethanol train, counterpart to the 64W loads. But I don't know that pair's unloading point. As noted, NS used the 64W/65W symbol pair for oil service to Westville, NJ, but it has revised its symbols several times since then and the 64/65 symbols now are used exclusively for ethanol while 66/67 are used exclusively for crude oil.

NS 62G would be some sort of miscellaneous unit train but I have no idea what it is.
