Eastern Railroad Discussion > Signal Cutover Today- NS Tower/Lima/Toledo SubdivisionDate: 09/23/17 04:47 Signal Cutover Today- NS Tower/Lima/Toledo Subdivision Author: CGTower Signal suspension in effect today (9/23) for NS Tower in Lima on the Toledo Subdivision. CSX signal crews made final preparations yesterday to cut over this interlocking. Suspension lasts from 0700 to 1900, trains will be able to operate through the interlocking under flagman protection.
Two mast CPL signals, two Conrail era Type G color light signals (on the former PRR now CF&E), and a NKP mast signal (off the NS line from Arcadia), will be removed as a result. The cutover is timely, in recent months there has been several issues at the interlocking resulting in bad signals and trains stopping blocking key crossings in town. While I hate to see the old signals go, the need for this update is important. CG Tower Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 09/23/17 04:55 by CGTower. Date: 09/23/17 05:30 Re: Signal Cutover Today- NS Tower/Lima/Toledo Subdivision Author: PRR_4859 Is this where the NKP Lube from Fostoria crosses or is that further north?
Date: 09/23/17 05:48 Re: Signal Cutover Today- NS Tower/Lima/Toledo Subdivision Author: CGTower The NKP does not cross the CSX at NS Tower, NS (NKP) joins the CSX main at NS and runs to Erie Jct. NS then returns back to their own tracks at South Lima Yard.
You also may be thinking about Leipsic Junction, which is where the NS Fostoria District crosses the Toledo Subdivision. That interlocking was replaced a couple of years ago now. CG Edited 1 time(s). I still have a phone tire of myself as a child, standing with my father, grandfather and a railfan friend from Lima on the steps of NS Tower, with the PRR PLs standing...
I don't suppose any of the signals will be donated anywhere? I seem to remember that the northbound CPL may have a full head and at least 3 lunar indications possible; will be sad to see that go. NS has the advantage as the approach circuits are much farther out than the CSX circuits. NS tower is controlled by the CSX LA dispatcher. The last time I was at Leipsic Jct the old Tower was still there, but I did not know who controlled it when it had an operator years ago.

As far as I know, it's still there, in a gutted state, even though there was a CSX "Condemned" placard on it 23 years ago. Posted from iPhone Date: 09/23/17 20:31 Re: Signal Cutover Today- NS Tower/Lima/Toledo Subdivision Author: tq-07fan These are from exactly two months ago, July 23 2017. First one is NS Tower at Lima and the other two are of the tower at Leipsic, or what's left of it.
