[AL] Birmingham Railroad Park and Carrigan's Public House
Author: Lackawanna484

There's a nice mention of Birmingham Railroad Park in the weekend WSJ. Just west of the Amtrak / Crescent station, and just north of Regions Park ball field.

Is this a decent place to hang out, and watch trains?

The article also mentions Carrigan's Public House, 2430 Morris Street, as a good place to have lunch, a few beers, and watch trains. Looks like it's on the north (dark) side of the tracks. OK for watching, less for photography. Anyone have experience here?

I rode by there last fall and consider it an OK place to watch trains. The fencing precludes photography. I can't speak to Carrigan's, but there are a number of bars and restauarants in the rehabbed areas
