Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX Single Stacks on Midwestern LanesDate: 11/13/17 11:43 CSX Single Stacks on Midwestern Lanes Author: SOUCF25 Why does CSX run single stacks from Jacksonville to Atlanta or Birmingham? These routes have double stack clearances all the way to Chicago.

Are east coast freights using the Jesup Sub for some cost reason? I realize there was never much beyond coal and intermodal between Jesup and Folkston. They have to maintain Class 4 standards for Amtrak. Would it be just for "wear and tear" cost avoidance? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/13/17 16:18 by SOUCF25.
