A Busy Morning in the CSX Howell Yard in Evansville, IN
Author: ptroyal

This morning CSX’s 648 arrived in the Howell yard in Evansville with eight GE engines pulling 132 mixed freight cars: NS 9491 (C44-9W); NS 4060 (AC44C6M) CSX 7915 (C40-8W); CSX 570 (AC44CW); CSX 5295 (ES40DC); CSX 5279 (ES40DC); CSX 9023 (C40-9W); and CSX 7691 (C40-8W).

After dropping off the first 22 cars, CSX 648 continued its way to Chicago.

With the latest news from GE you must wonder where their replacements will come from.

After 648 got out of the way the Evansville Western Railroad’s daily turn from Mt. Vernon showed up with 67 cars pulled by two Road Slug/ GP40-2 Mate units.

Thank you. There is a group of us old train watchers that meet in a vacant lot on Broadway, across from the north end of the yard, every morning.
