------------------------------------------------------- > What do you mean at long last? First the following needs to be stated. A railroads means of communications is solely for the purpose of operating, better yet, safely and efficiently operating their business. Not us rail fans!!! For the better part of the last year there has been an increase in radio communications within each of the NS divisions located here in the southeast, being the NS Alabama and NS Georgia Divisions. The primary user groups are: 1.Dispatcher / Chief Dispatcher 2.MOC (Mechanical Operations Center) Resolving engine performance issues 3.OSS (Operations System Support AKA CYO) Train consist changes / customer pickup / set outs 4.Leader / PTC Support Resolving Train Computer technical performance issues. 5.RW groups (Signal Maintainers / Track Maintainers) The bigger problem is when both divisions ( user groups 1 -5 above) are using existing “Channel 2” AAR 09-09. Then throw in depots around and about with base stations with only AAR 56-56 available adds to the problems even more. On two occasions that I am aware of, the most recent being just yesterday, the Birmingham dispatching group had to ask the Georgia Division group to please go to another channel other then 56-56 as they were dealing with trying to resolve an issue with a train with a broken draw bar operating on the East End District. Link below covered the topic back in March 13 of this year. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,4247939,4247939#msg-4247939 As was pointed out on March 16 of this year NS Georgia Division did change several AAR channels south of Atlanta. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,4328479,4328621#msg-4328621 They have finally completed the long over due change!!
