Rare grain train through Folkston
Author: RFandPFan

Grain trains are infrequent through Folkston, especially this one. V241 is an empty grain train from Bahia, FL (Lake City area). Normally this train goes to Sullivan, IN but this particular one will terminate in Nashville, TN. Seen yesterday with 184 empties.

This is apparently a grain train that went to Cal-Maine in Florida....Cal-Maine is the biggest producer of shell eggs in the US with 20% of the market. If you think about this train in "real world" terms, the volume is amazing. 184 cars at lets say an average of 110 tons of grain/car equals over 20,000 tons (about 40.5 million pounds of grain). That'll feed a lot of chickens - and it is just one train to one producer in part of one state.

Nice catch and video. Must be a 3x2 when loaded.

I believe they would cone back on more than one train. I've never seen a loaded one that big through here.
