GMTX Mother & Slug heading west DIT in Pan Am POED
Author: JPB

Pan Am's POED freight has just re-crewed at CPF-WL at Willow Rd Ayer, MA on Sunday 2/18/18. Tucked in behind the two sketchy looking "MEC" C40s are slug GMTX 958 and mother GMTX 3050 heading west DIT (reportedly to St Louis). The GMTX units have been in use by PAR on the SAPPI local in Maine for the past 6+ months. Not sure why these units are leaving. They are certainly much better looking than those two dilapidated ex-CSX engines!

I'm not a big rent-a-railroad fan, but those are among the sharpest lease units I've ever seen and I'm glad I caught them on the SAPPI job last fall.

Maybe the lease is up and they're buying the CSX units?

Former SD Warren Paper Somerset Mill in Hinkley, ME (near Skowhegan) acquired by Sappi North America in 1994 that Pan Am serves with Waterville-based locals.

Sappi Limited, originally incorporated as South African Pulp and Paper Industries Limited in 1936, is a South African pulp and paper company with global operations.
