MA&N Plow Extra Utica-Lyons Falls, NY Branch
Author: ut-1

Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern ran a plow extra on its 45-mile Utica-Lyons Falls, NY branch today.

No. 2456, a C425 Alco, brought the railroad's Jordan Spreader up the branch. Once in Lyons Falls, the Jordan Spreader was in front and proceeded to clear the line in earnest as it moved back down the branch..

There are no customers between Boonville-Lyons Falls (10 miles) and I suspect the railroad will store cars on that portion of the line again this year.

That is terrific video. I really enjoyed. That C-425 is immaculate.

Very nice video; however what was the temperature that day as all the railroad employees are in short sleeve shirts? That's very unusual when watching a train plow through snow.

Nice video, thanks for capturing and sharing it.
Last I saw the 2456 it was green, wonder when they painted it. I think it was also the #806.

Seems odd to tow the spreader north and fight the snow with the engine pilot plow then shove the spreader south after breaking the trail.

Don't think they have a wye or turntable on their property.

Neat video, the care they exercize going over the crossings gives you an idea about the tenacity of ice!
Would have loved to see the plow running wings out.
