Eastern Railroad Discussion > "NYS&W Plow Extra" Utica, NY BranchDate: 03/19/18 14:47 "NYS&W Plow Extra" Utica, NY Branch Author: ut-1 New York, Susquehanna & Western ran a plow extra on its Utica, NY branch today from Utica-Sangerfield, 23 miles. I believe this is the first time the O.F. Jordan plow was used on the branch since 2016.
Here's a video. Photo 1. The work train reaches Paris Station, crest of Paris Hill's 1.8% grade. Photo 2. A few minutes later, the plow extra passes a farm in Waterville, NY. Thanks for posting. ALLEN Date: 03/22/18 04:29 Re: "NYS&W Plow Extra" Utica, NY Branch Author: BigDave Something I've always wondered - generally speaking, how much snow do the railroads allow to accumulate before calling out the plows? How about the rotaries?
