Details are sketchy, but NS 24N was involved in a grade crossing accident slightly west of the Chesterton, IN webcam early Thursday. Judging by radio scanner communication, the event took place near or perhaps even within the Porter interlocking at CP 482. Lead by a single CP unit, the short Toledo bound intermodel train crawled to a halt at 1:27 AM CDT for a two-hour delay. However, any possible damage or clues could not be discerned as the train passed the webcam. As one might expect, multiple trains were backed-up in both directions on the busy NS Chicago Line.
