Eastern Railroad Discussion > Lexington KYDate: 04/20/18 07:42 Lexington KY Author: wictl My wife is attending a medical convention in Lexington,KY this weekend so I tagged along to get some non-Wisconsin railfanning in. What kind if traffic is there south of Cinnci and north of Danville on the NS?

The line from Louisville joins the line from Cincinnati a couple of miles north of Danville, making the line south from that point to Chattanooga busier and more scenic.

It sees the 30-40 trains daily. You have RJ Corman in town on the old CSX lexington or old road sub. I'm not sure what trains they are currently running, but there are locals that go west towards Versailles ky and east towards winchester to interchange with the CSX CC sub there. Corman has the old NS LL Lexington to Lawrenceburg sub and on the end of that is a nice museum, the Bluegrass Railroad Museum. Not far is the Louisville District of NS that runs from Louisville to Danville and connects with the CNOTP just north of danville. It sees around 15-20 trains a day as well. The CSX CC sub runs from Cincy to Corbin and south. Traffic is hit or miss. There's some awesome scenery around Ford Ky down towards Richmond where hill helpers were stationed. I don't know if they cut those off or not. Over all, lots of neat things to see.
