Raritan Central "RC-1" Job Friday 4/20
Author: PennRailVideos

Up early for a change, I decided to make use of the time and cross something off my list.

1. Raritan Central job "RC-1" doubles it's outbound train together to head for Metuchen.

2. "RC-1" heads west over Woodbridge Ave in Edison, NJ.

3. Up at Conrail's Metuchen Yard. RCRY interchanges their inbounds/outbounds with Conrail here.

4. Metuchen Yard is a good place to be if you like classic EMD power.

5. Bringing the train back to the Raritan Center, the engineer carefully crosses busy US Route 1 in Edison, NJ.

6. Depending on the train length (today's train 26 cars), sometimes the head end will make a brief appearance over Riverside Drive on the east end of the Raritan Center.

This is a busy little railroad.

Cool, where do they work out of? Do they work weekends?
My daughter just moved to Woodbridge, NJ, so this looks like something I need to check out when I go visit.

So what is their current roster, anyway? I just remember GP-10's and some B-boats.

Its a little misleading. All the trackage shown, including the "conrail" track is switched by Rc, afaik. RC runs to Metuchen yard for interchange. It is on the other side of Rt 514 and Rt1, out of view on the right.

The current roster, as far as I can figure out, is:
1 x GP-30M
1 x GP-38
3 x SW1500
1 x GP-20
2 x GP-10

Thank you.

I didn't realize Heller Industrial Park was tucked in behind the county college.

Will have to check it out.

(For folks not familiar with the area, it is just minutes from the North Jersey Coast Line, and very near the Garden State secondary. Motiva oil terminal is within 10 minutes drive.)
