I am still astonished by the various "heritage" paint scheme/font matters that various companies authorize for various reasons. "New York Central"! Remarkable to see this! I find myself thinking that it has something to do with a current NS exec who has a family history of employment with the NYC from back at the beginning of the Cenozoic Era. (hahaha). Seriously: who has this done? I love seeing it, but I just do not comprehend its value such that someone is being employed to do it and that it is not a "glamor" loco for tourist excursions.
Just asking.

As part of Norfolk Southern's 30th anniversary, in 2012, they took 20 new-build locomotives [10 EMD SD70ACE's & 10 GE ES44AC's] and painted them in the livery of fallen flag railroads that now make up NS's route system. The heritage SD70ACE's are numbered 1065-1074 & the ES44AC's are numbered 8098-8105, adding in one that was already built [8025] & skipping numbers up to 8114, which is the original NS paint scheme/livery.
