How is CSX making out with its furlough recalls? I've heard that a lot of guys found alternate work, and aren't returning. In much of Florida, the unemployment rate is under 4%, and if you're drug free and want to work, you can get a job. Date: 04/24/18 09:30 Re: Where does CSX train crews now ? Some quit. But a lot were called back. For example on the Seaboard side of Richmond, there was at one time quite a number furloughed. And yes, a decent number didn't come back. But some did and the remainder were called to the C&O side of Richmond due to shortages there. No one remains furloughed. Date: 04/24/18 09:57 Re: Where does CSX train crews now ? Author: NYC6001 CSX isn't really hiring, so who knows? In truth, each division can do it on their own with a Motel 6 conference room and a nearby yard, and probably retain more conductors than the indoctrination center at Atlanta. There are always guys in the crafts who will take the trainer jobs and do them well.

Author: engineerinvirginia While not much hiring going on now, it will ensue at some point, and when it does they will be trained in the field like they ought to have been all along. You can take book of rules classes anywhere, but you need to be on the territory you will work for actual training.
