Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX W991-23 (UP/SEPTA) & G089 (BNSF)Date: 04/25/18 19:12 CSX W991-23 (UP/SEPTA) & G089 (BNSF) Author: ddavies I saw a BNSF powered grain train on the Hyndman cam this morning, so it was west to Rutherford Curve on the B&O (BA 92).
Forecast was for rain today, but not seeing any organized storms nearby, I went out anyway. Top image is G089 BNSF grain train to Brunswick, MD, for eventual delivery out on the Shenandoah Sub. Second image is W991, which ha been crossing the country the last few days with 3 ACS-64a for SEPTA. Last image is SEPTA 906. I understood the reason when the Marc units were part of the consist, but wouldn't New York have been easier and south to Phila., Pa.

Might be cheaper freight rate to come via the CSX (B&O) route to Baltimore, then northeast up to Philadelphia over the former B&O "Royal Blue" route. Just a guess.
