Eastern Railroad Discussion > Barr yard in ChicagoDate: 06/17/18 09:12 Barr yard in Chicago Author: espeefan I was wondering as I passed by Barr yard on Q138 yesterday, where was all the foreign line power was going? There was more foreign power than our own sitting on the ready tracks!

If the yard had been closed, as you claim, all of the staff would have been laid off not half. While its role was reduced, it never was closed. Date: 06/17/18 19:22 Re: Barr yard in Chicago Author: espeefan That SA Harrison moved a lot of traffic to the BRC. After the numbers started to come back and showed that plan wasn't working, he brought some work back to Barr. So it never closed.
Yesterday there were a bunch CN Red Barns, a BNSF BW40-8, several UP CW40-8'S. Posted from Android Date: 06/17/18 19:23 Re: Barr yard in Chicago Author: OldHeadRailroader What are your sources? Do you work there? If not, then you don't know that for certain. Barr Yard is a shell of what it was a few years ago. https://www.supplychaindive.com/news/CSX-Chicago-Barr-Yard-Belt-Railway-Hunter-Harrison/449105/

More recently, some of the road trains that had been shifted to Clearing have returned to Barr. So Barr has maybe half the traffic it had before EHH took over. I've been a hogger the past 18! I pass by every other day working out of North Baltimore to Chicago. Where in my post did I say things returned to normal?? MY EYESIGHT IS MY SOURCE OF INFORMATION! The BORE trains just started back out of there this weekend. Date: 06/18/18 19:03 Re: Barr yard in Chicago Author: espeefan There's quite a bit of traffic!
The RA dispatcher put a slop train going to Garrett in front of us Saturday evening! We had a 14000 foot Q138 which he thought wasn't that important.
