Mid train derailment or was the head end involved?

No injuries to the crew. So I would say more midtrain toward rear of train.

Statement from CSX Transportation:

“At approximately 8:10 p.m. this evening, a CSX train derailed several railcars near Princeton, IN. Preliminary reports indicate a release from a railcar containing propane. There are no reported injuries at this time. CSX is working closely with local firefighters and other first responders to assess the situation, and the safety of the community and everyone on site is our top priority as we develop a recovery plan. The train consisted of two locomotives, 89 loaded railcars and 9 empty railcars.”

I read elsewhere on the Virtual Railfan forum. That the cause was a Sun kink.

It's actually propane cars on fire. But if the reefers were right next to the propane cars before the derailment, FRA is not going to be happy with CSXT.

It appears the manifest derailed into autoracks on the siding. There is a Toyota automobile plant nearby.

Yes, that is where my 2016 Toyota Highlander was custom built and shipped from a couple years ago.

Also propane tanks for switch heaters were involved in the fire.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana (TMMI). They make the Sequoia, Sienna, and Highlander.

Yes indeed, in fact when I bought my Toyota Highlander I remember someone right here on Trainorders sent me a private note thanking me because the place where he works made the sunroof for the vehicle.
