Father's Day around Scranton, PA
Author: sscannella

Spent Sunday visiting with my 89 year-old father, but also got in a couple stints trackside after church in the morning then again early afternoon. Started off with some NS action at Yatesville, first southbound 11Z, then northbound 14R a little later, 'grinding' upgrade on Laflin Hill with 3 units and 20 cars.

The Reading and Northern Scranton job was out doing it's normal Sunday activity keeping the booze flowing from the west to Kane's warehouses in the Scranton Keyser Valley.

In the afternoon I was able to catch some action out of Scranton starting with Steamtown's excursion to Moscow with their two resident F units, seen departing Scranton and passing under the old Lackawanna signal bridge at Elmhurst, PA.

The Delaware Lackawanna had their transfer job out on Sunday, which followed the Steamtown excursion east to store some of the cars it picked up from the NS's Taylor Yard at Cobb siding, to be delivered to their Pocono Main customers Monday.

While the Steamtown excursion and the DL job were out of town, Steamtown's 4th and final 'Yard Shuttle' of the day went out with Baldwin 0-6-0 #26, seen here backing down from Nay Aug tunnel back to Scranton.

Last here is the DL job returning lite with 5 Alco products, followed shortly by the Steamtown excursion, then the excursion train passing the parked DL power across from Bridge 60, as the Fs move west then reverse back toward the Steamtown roundhouse.
