3 Days In and Around Keyser, WV - 02 thru 04 July 2018

Monday - 02 July 2018

1) The day starts with N744-29 passing the house at 0856 hrs. eastbound.

2) 1013 hrs. - Another eastbound... N743-29 at Rawlings, MD.

3) 1058 hrs. .... Q316-30 heads eastbound at Rawlings, MD.

1) 904 Axles passing over the DD at 21st. Bridge Rd...... E780-01 at Keyser, WV setting out 90 cars.

2) B770-02 eastbound at Keymont, WV with the outbound traffic from the WVC Junction.

3) B772-02 returning to the junction light engine wait in the background B772-02 waits with their 44 cars from Grafton. Once in Keyser B772 will combine their cars with the 26 cars from B770 and place the cut in the east yard for the next Q316 to pick up.

1) and 2) Q317-02 westbound at Beall Street in Cumberland, MD.

3) Q317-02 westbound passing the signal "Fairgo" at the Allegany County Fair Grounds.

Tuesday - 03 July 2018

1) The hottest train on the Mountain Sub this day. Dispatcher BF has commented several times that they need to keep the N750 moving. N750-03 eastbound at Keymont, WV

2) B772-03 in the Freight track (left).... N999 (Center)... N750-03 (right) at Keyser.

3) N750 crew on the N999 power taking the locomotives into the west yard at Keyser, WV. Once the power is tied down, the crew will reboard their train and double it with the N999 cars to make a 130 loaded drag going east.

1) E792-02 arrives westbound at Keyser, WV while the N750-03 is in the middle of doubling their train with the N999.

2) With track #1 clear, E792-02 departs Keyser, WV westbound for Grafton.

3) Shortly after the departure of both the N750 and E792 a crew has taxi'ed down from Cumberland to make up the U054-03 already in Keyser. U054-03 power comes out of the west yard and prepares to couple up to the 130 car train on the westbound siding.

1) While everybody else is working in Keyser, the B770-03 waits on the interchange track at Piedmont, WV with the outbound Junction traffic for their turn to work Keyser.

2) Q316 has arrived at Keyser and is preparing to pull their pick up off the freight track. The U054-03 is together and waiting to depart off the westbound siding.

3) Just a shot of the Slug facing west as the power for Q316-01 reveses onto the freight track.

1) Q316-01 eastbound at Bull Neck Curve outside Keyser, WV... with a 70 car pickup they will be 500 axles over the DD at 21st. Bridge Rd.

2) Q317-03 westbound at the Rebecca Rd. Crossing near Pinto, MD.

3) Q317-03 making they 37 car set out at Keyser, WV.

Wednesday - 04 July 2018

1) Morning starts with a trip to Cumberland for Breakfast... but not before we catch the N769-29 with a new crew on board coming off the single main at Cumberland.

2) N769-29 eastbound at Mexico Farms Rd. in Cumberland.

3) Power from Q348 at Mexico Tower.... little did we know we would be seeing the CN motor later this day.

1) Q216-02 eastbound at Viaduct Junction in Cumberland, MD

2) Back at Keyser, WV we find the Q316-02 waiting at the Keyser station for their Conductor to rejoin the headend after making their pick up.

3) Q31602 eastbound at Bull Neck Curve.

1) N999-04 eastbound at Piedmont, WV.

2) N99904 (left) on the eastbound siding at Keyser is giving their power to the E744-04 (right). The crew for E744 taxi'ed down from Cumberland to Keyser to get the power for their train only find one of the locomotives unuseable. So they would grab the N999 power and take all 4 locomotives back east to Cumberland to get their train.........

3) Bad Order E744 power on track #2 as the crew takes the N999 power thru the switch off the eastbound siding.

1) Q317-04 westbound arriving at Keyser, WV ..... the trailing CN unit was the Q348 leader earlier that morning.

2) Q317-04 westbound on 17-Mile Grade at Bloomington, MD.

3) In Cumberland looking for the E744, we catch P029-04 westbound departing the city.

1) E744-04 with their train awaiting to depart Cumberland, MD. The Bad Order Locomotives were set off at the shops earlier.
