It is a major crossing and juction with the, then, Illinois Central and Norfolk Westernand(Wabash) and Nickel Plate. ref: Steam Powered Video map book: Great Lakes West -- page 25 A-1. Several elevators in town, had their own switchers when I passed through a decade ago.
