NJ Transit funding suggestions

Larry Higgs summarizes suggestions for reviving the transit system.

The 12 cent gas and 23 cent diesel tax could be a heavy lift in Trenton. Same for local transit district taxes.

They just raised the gas tax 4 cents per gallon because the 23 cent hike came in below budgeted revenue. No one batted an eyelash.

you don’t really have a choice when they raise gas taxes, well one, not to drive, who can do that!

Many Americans, by choice or necessity, do not drive.
