Pan Am 2nd main Deering to Yarmouth

What is the status of the construction of the 2nd main track south of Yarmouth Jct. on PanAm. This is to permit all five Downeasters (Amtrak) to go to Brunswick.  The new schedule began in mid November.

That's interesting.  They're already running a full schedule up to Brunswick without the increased track capacity.  Makes one wonder if it was necessary in the first place.

Apparently Pan Am held NNEPRA hostage because of the HEAVY freight traffic of six freight trains a day!! Once NNEPRA committed to the 10m project, Guilford said "gotcha" and allowed the schedule to procede using the existing double track nearby.
